A new police outpost has been set up at Bourda Market following a visit by President Irfaan Ali, addressing longstanding security concerns raised by vendors.

The outpost, located at the intersection of Bourda and Orange Walk, aims to enhance safety and prevent robberies that have affected the market.

Vendors at the market expressed relief and gratitude for the initiative, noting that the increased police presence has already made them feel more secure.

They highlighted the importance of the outpost, especially for those who operate late into the evening.

With inadequate street lighting and the need to close up shop around 8 or 9 PM, vendors welcome the extra protection.

In addition to the outpost, efforts are underway to connect security cameras and a monitoring system to improve surveillance.

The project, led by PPP/C Councillor Steven Jacobs, aims to ensure the safety of both vendors and shoppers in the market.
