By Saskia Warrick

In a tribute to the late Nationalist and prominent figure of the People’s Progressive Party, Ashton Chase, a new non-profit organization named Ashton Chase Inc. was officially launched on July 18, 2024.

This date marks the first anniversary of Chase’s passing.

Ashton Chase Inc. aims to honor Chase’s significant contributions to trade unionism, the legal profession, and Guyanese political independence.

The organization will focus on promoting his life, work, and ideals, with a special emphasis on reprinting his literary works.

Despite being the author of approximately eight books, only one of Chase’s books is currently in print.

Pauline Chase, the daughter of Ashton Chase and Vice President of the Bar Association, outlined the organization’s initial plans, which include the re-publication of her father’s law texts.

All proceeds from these reprints will support the legal profession and educational initiatives.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who attended the launch, highlighted the importance of Ashton Chase Inc. in continuing to promote the principles and legacy of Chase.

The President emphasized that the organization should serve as an inspiration for future generations, reflecting Chase’s commitment to social justice and national development.

The launch event was attended by Cabinet Ministers, government officials, and members of the legal community from both local and regional backgrounds.

The occasion not only celebrated Chase’s achievements but also marked a significant step in preserving and advancing his contributions to Guyanese society.
