New Lima Regional Hospital Set to Enhance Healthcare in Guyana

The construction of the modern Lima Regional Hospital on the Essequibo Coast is progressing, with expectations that it will be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2025.

This state-of-the-art healthcare facility, strategically located, aims to not only benefit residents of Region 2 but also those in Region 1.

The Lima Regional Hospital is designed to be a comprehensive healthcare center, featuring advanced medical facilities and services.

Equipped with digital X-rays, CT scans, and a comprehensive laboratory, the hospital aims to provide faster and more accurate diagnostics.

The facility will boast 75 inpatient beds, two operating theaters for surgeries, a minor theater, and outpatient clinics, among other essential services.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, highlighted the decision to choose Lima as the central location for the hospital, emphasizing the challenges in finding available land at Anna Regina.

The central location is expected to facilitate easier access for residents in the surrounding regions.

Once completed, the hospital will have backup power supply, water treatment facilities, and an efficient waste disposal system, ensuring its functionality even in challenging circumstances.

Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Anand Persaud, underscored the government’s prioritization of the health sector, stating that the Lima Regional Hospital would be a game-changer for Essequibo.

The Lima Regional Hospital is poised to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region, bringing advanced medical capabilities to the community.

The government’s commitment to modernizing and expanding healthcare infrastructure reflects its dedication to improving the overall well-being of Guyanese citizens.
