New Health Centre Commissioned at Schepmoed, East Bank of Berbice

The Ministry of Health has officially commissioned a new health centre at Schepmoed on the East Bank of Berbice, representing a significant addition to primary healthcare services in Region Six.

The construction of health centers across the region is part of the government’s efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility.

The Schepmoed Health Post, with an investment exceeding $20 million, was inaugurated earlier today by Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony.

The new facility brings the total number of health centers in the region to 42.

During his address, Dr. Frank Anthony urged residents to make use of the services provided, emphasizing that the government has allocated $129 billion in this year’s budget for health services.

He highlighted the importance of residents actively accessing the care available to benefit from the government’s healthcare initiatives.

The Schepmoed Health Post is equipped to offer a range of services, including general outpatients, antenatal clinics, infant admissions, doctor visits, child health clinics, adolescence clinics, and home-based care.

Regional Chairman, David Armogan, and Regional Health Officer, Dr. Vishalya Sharma, expressed their satisfaction with the establishment of the health post, emphasizing that it fulfills a promise made by the government to address the healthcare needs of the residents in the area.

Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud, also present at the event, assured further investments in various sectors for the benefit of the community.
