New Doctors’ Quarter Commissioned at Shulinab Health Centre

A significant advancement in healthcare infrastructure has been achieved with the commissioning of a new doctor’s quarter at the Shulinab Health Centre in Region Nine. This development is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery in the region.

The newly constructed doctors’ quarter, valued at 7 million dollars, will serve as the residence for doctors assigned to the health centre.

Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony emphasized that this facility will markedly improve the working and living conditions for the doctors, ultimately contributing to their job satisfaction and retention in the area.

Dr. Anthony further highlighted that this provision is essential in ensuring that doctors and other staff are encouraged to stay and serve in the community.

Minister Anthony announced that further healthcare development is on the horizon for the region. Plans have been set in motion to provide the community with an ambulance, pending approval in the 2024 budget.

Shulinab, an Amerindian community located in central areas of Region 9, is home to over 500 residents from the Macushi and Wapichan tribes. The community also includes several satellite villages, such as Meriwau and Quiko.
