New Direct Flights Strengthen Guyana-Canada Connection

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, welcomed the introduction of non-stop flights between Toronto, Canada, and Guyana by Fly Always.

The biweekly service on an A320 aircraft with a seating capacity of 174 aims to enhance travel options and boost competitiveness in airfare.

Fly Always engaged in extensive discussions with authorities before securing approval for the Canada-Guyana route.

Inaugural passengers expressed their excitement about the new direct connection.

Minister Edghill emphasized that this development is a significant stride for the nation, facilitating easier travel for members of the Canadian Diaspora and tourists interested in visiting Guyana.

CEO of Fly All Ways, Amichand Jhauw, expressed the desire for this venture to evolve into a fruitful partnership that benefits all parties involved.

Recent statistics from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) indicate a notable increase in passenger traffic, with over 30,000 recorded in the first 10 days of September. From January to August, the airport welcomed 480,324 passengers, marking a 14% surge compared to 2022.

This figure even surpasses pre-pandemic levels in 2019 by eight percent.
