The construction of the new Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge is progressing, and commuters between Mackenzie and Wismar will soon experience changes to traffic patterns.

A detour road is scheduled to open on Monday, October 14, facilitating transportation during the construction phase.

Civil engineer Pavil Magin from China Railway Construction Company (CRCC) announced that the detour road is essential for maintaining traffic flow while allowing construction work to proceed without interruptions.

The construction team has completed the primary infrastructure for the detour, which is now ready for use after successful testing.

As part of the upcoming changes, Casaurina Drive leading to the bridge will be permanently restricted, and a section of Washer Pond Road will have daytime restrictions from 7 AM to 6 PM.

To ensure safety during the transition, the detour road will include clear signage and safety measures.

These enhancements are part of a comprehensive safety protocol established for the project.

CRCC is on schedule to meet the completion deadline of April 2026.

Once the detour is operational, the focus will shift to constructing the access roads, which will enable the start of work on a temporary bridge.

The foundation for the new bridge is expected to be set in January 2025.

Residents and commuters are encouraged to remain alert for updates as this vital infrastructure project continues to develop.
