The Conversation Tree road expansion project is set to see new progress with a fresh deadline and a new contractor appointed by the government.
After facing prolonged delays and warnings from the government, Kallco Guyana Inc. has been demobilized from the project after settling their contractual obligations.
In their place, Guyanese contractor S. Jagmohan and Sons have been appointed to complete the remaining works.
Public Works Minister, Juan Edghill, highlighted the successful execution of the Eastern section of the project by S. Jagmohan and Sons, citing their reliability and efficiency.
Minister Edghill stressed the urgency of expediting the project to address the inconvenience faced by citizens, assuring that efforts are underway to complete the works before Christmas.
Expressing gratitude to residents for their cooperation and patience, Minister Edghill reiterated the government’s commitment to development and improving citizens’ lives.
In addition to appointing the new contractor, nine small contractors have been engaged to rehabilitate the boulevard along Conversation Tree.
This includes the construction of a walkway, installation of lighting, and landscaping to enhance safety, accessibility, and aesthetics along the thoroughfare.
Minister Edghill also outlined plans to extend the road network, linking Conversation Tree Road to Dennis Street and eventually to Vlissengen Road, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the area.
As work progresses on the Conversation Tree road project, residents can anticipate improvements in infrastructure and connectivity, marking significant strides towards enhancing the quality of life and fostering development in the region.
