New Billboard Unveiled to Welcome Visitors to Linden

A new welcoming landmark has been introduced at Millies Junction, Amelia’s Ward in Linden, aimed at enhancing the town’s tourism appeal.

The billboard, financed by the Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce through the Region Ten Tourism Committee, bears the inscription, “Welcome to Linden, the heartland of Guyana.”

The picturesque billboard is part of the Ministry’s broader initiatives for tourism development in Region Ten.

Sanalie Ragubar, a representative from the Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce, highlighted ongoing programs, including the upgrading of Region Ten Tourism maps, showcasing various tourism attractions.

She emphasized the importance of community-based tourism, adventure tourism, and nature tourism.

Region Ten’s Tourism Development Officer, Odessa Burrowes-Glasgow, led the initiative, emphasizing the role of tourism in stimulating business.

The sign not only serves as a welcoming gesture but also positions Linden as a burgeoning tourism destination, providing directional information.

The unveiling ceremony took place in the presence of stakeholders, members of the Region Ten Tourism Committee, and Linden Town Clerk Lennox Gasper.

Gasper expressed the hope that the billboard would guide the town towards development, prosperity, progress, and enhanced tourism.

Devin Sears, Chairman of the Region Ten Tourism Committee, noted that branding Linden as the heartland of Guyana was fitting, considering its strategic central location bridging the gap between the Coastland and Hinterland communities.

The new billboard serves as a symbol of Linden’s commitment to tourism development, providing visitors with a warm welcome and directional information as they explore the heartland of Guyana.
