New Amsterdam Man Remanded for Murder of Dhanindranauth Surujnauth

On Friday, 26-year-old Ravi Henry of Vryheid Village, West Canje Berbice, was remanded for murder after reportedly confessing to the crime.

The incident, detailed by Royan Abrams, unfolded at the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Michelle Mathias.

Henry stands accused of murdering 57-year-old Dhanindranauth Surujnauth, also known as “Charlie,” between June 17 and 22 at Vryheid Village, West Canje.

Surujnauth’s decomposed body was discovered in a swampy area of the village last Saturday, following several days of being reported missing.

According to reports, a post-mortem examination revealed that Surujnauth sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured cranium and a severed finger.

Henry, unemployed at the time of his arrest, allegedly confessed during custody that an argument with Surujnauth escalated into a fatal altercation.

He purportedly armed himself with an iron bar and assaulted the victim multiple times.

Henry was remanded in custody until August 2nd pending further legal proceedings.
