The new academic year is officially underway, filling schools across Guyana with the energy of eager students, dedicated teachers, and hopeful parents.
After weeks of holiday, classrooms came alive today with students reconnecting with friends, meeting new teachers, and embracing new opportunities for learning and growth.
For one student, Gia Jagdeo, it is the beginning of a new chapter.
”It’s exciting. I am ready for the new term, and I am ready to start over and explore new challenges,” she told NCN News.
Parent Seon Scott was eager for her child to return to the classroom.
“We feel good about the new term. The children are back out to school, taking in their education, and we the parents feel good about it,” she said.
The return isn’t just about textbooks and timetables. At the David Rose Special Needs School music teacher and therapist Sarah Dos Ramos is about supporting students in their educational journey.
”Helping them to be as independent as possible, and helping them to achieve all their developmental milestones, so everything they need to do for themselves, especially in school -things like sitting and paying attention…we get to work on that with them,” she explained.
Meanwhile, President Dr. Irfaan Ali has extended best wishes to students and teachers for a successful and rewarding academic year. The President joined many parents this morning in the excitement of the first day, accompanying his children to school.
