New $50.2 Million Health Center Commissioned in Canefield, Canje

Over the weekend, a significant milestone was marked in Region 6 with the commissioning of a new $50.2 million health center in Canefield, Canje.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony, who emphasized the pivotal role of the facility in enhancing healthcare services at the primary level.

Minister Anthony underscored the importance of the new health center in providing essential healthcare services directly within the community of Canefield.

He urged residents to utilize the comprehensive range of services now available, emphasizing the need for proper maintenance to ensure sustained quality care.

In his address, Minister Anthony highlighted the government’s commitment to investing in healthcare infrastructure across Guyana, aiming to ensure that facilities are not only built but also maintained to deliver the best services to residents.

Dr. Vishalya Sharma, Regional Health Officer, echoed these sentiments, stating that the new health center reflects a collective effort to advance healthcare services in Region 6.

With this addition, the region now boasts 43 health centers, further expanding access to healthcare for its residents.

The newly commissioned health center is equipped with modern medical supplies and staffed with adequate human resources to cater to the primary healthcare needs of the community.

This investment is expected to significantly improve healthcare accessibility and quality in Canje and its surrounding areas.
