A new $2.3 million bandstand has been officially commissioned in the Guyana National Park, offering families, visitors, and fitness enthusiasts a fresh spot for relaxation and recreation.

Located near the Carifesta Avenue entrance of the park, the bandstand was constructed through a collaboration between Global Healthcare Supplies, Essential Care Pharmacy, and the Protected Areas Commission.

Owner of Essential Care Pharmacy, Deonarine Etwaroo, expressed the importance of promoting holistic health and wellness, highlighting the bandstand as a space for relaxation amidst the park’s natural beauty.

Etwaroo emphasized his commitment to maintaining the bandstand while encouraging users to treat the structure with care and respect.

Vice Chairman of the Protected Areas Commission, Roger Yearwood, lauded the partnership between the private sector and the commission, urging others to follow suit in adopting and developing green spaces across Guyana.

Yearwood underscored the importance of creating user-friendly environments in protected areas, enhancing the outdoor experience for visitors.

The Protected Areas Commission reiterated its dedication to preserving and maintaining green spaces while striving to strike a balance between urban development and natural conservation in the capital city.

The commission sees this initiative as a significant step towards unlocking Guyana’s tourism potential and enhancing its attractiveness as a destination.

As the bandstand opens its doors to the public, it symbolizes not only a space for relaxation but also a commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development in Guyana.
