October 15, 2024

The National Cultural Centre (NCC) is primed and ready to host the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship this weekend.

The event, which will feature bodybuilding and physique athletes from across the region, is expected to bring top-tier talent to Guyana.

Keavon Bess, Head of the local bodybuilding federation, shared details about preparations, noting that adjustments have been made to the venue, which previously hosted the event in 2004.

The updates to the NCC, including the foyer area, have been designed to ensure the event runs smoothly.

The CAC Bodybuilding Championship is sponsored by several organizations, including Bounty Farms Ltd, Andrews Supermarket, the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport, the National Sports Commission, and others.

Athletes have already arrived from countries such as St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Curacao, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, and several other nations, including Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Colombia, and Mexico.

Weigh-ins and measurements are scheduled for Friday at the NCC.

Guyana’s team, headlined by multiple-time CAC medalists such as Emmerson Campbell, Rawle Green, Hannah Rampersaud, Julio Sinclair, and Sylvan Gardner, will be aiming to build on the success of last year’s competition, where the country secured four gold medals, two silver medals, and a bronze.

The squad of 25 athletes is among the nation’s top competitors, ready to showcase their skills and represent Guyana at this prestigious regional event.
