Nathan Bishop delivered a masterclass in batting, leading Georgetown to an emphatic 292-run victory over the Select Eleven in the opening round of the Demerara Cricket Board’s Inter-Association Under-15 50-over cricket competition.

The match was held at the Queen’s College Cricket Ground.

Bishop’s commanding knock of 140 runs off just 106 balls, including 19 fours and a six, was the highlight of the innings.

This performance marked his third century at the U-15 level.

His efforts were bolstered by contributions from opener Khush Seegobin (42), Makai Dowlin (36), and Joshua Bollers (28).

Despite brief resistance from Roscoe Anderson (1 for 17) and Jasani Craig (1 for 39), the Select XI bowlers struggled, conceding 52 extras that added significantly to Georgetown’s mammoth total.

In their reply, the Select XI were dismissed for a paltry 80 runs in 35.4 overs.

Captain Shahid Ramzan was the lone standout, scoring 25 runs off 56 balls with four boundaries.

Georgetown’s bowlers dominated, with Wasim Ali leading the attack with remarkable figures of four wickets for just five runs.

Captain Brandon Henry and Reyaz Latiff also contributed significantly, taking three wickets for nine runs and two wickets for 10 runs, respectively.

In another match at the LBI ground, East Coast secured a 152-run victory over East Bank, thanks to an all-round performance by Vinesh Kalpoo.

The competition will continue on November 20, with Georgetown facing East Bank at the Farm ground and the Select XI playing against West Demerara at Queen’s College.

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
