Nandu’s Maiden Century Highlights No-Result Game for Harpy Eagles

By Tyriq Walters, November 1, 2024

Matthew Nandu’s brilliant maiden century was the standout performance in the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ match against Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in the CWI CG United Regional Super50.

However, the match ended in a no-result due to rain at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St. Augustine.

Batting first, the Harpy Eagles were in early trouble after opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul fell in the 5th over.

Despite the setback, Nandu and captain Tevin Imlach built a solid partnership, with Imlach scoring 51 runs before being dismissed.

Nandu continued his steady progress at the crease, and after Kevlon Anderson added just 11 runs, wicketkeeper Kemol Savory joined Nandu to add another crucial 50 runs.

Nandu, displaying great composure, went on to score 116 runs off 103 balls.

The Harpy Eagles reached a total of 271 for 7 in 45 overs.

For the CCC, Mikkel Govia was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 42 runs, supported by Abhijai Mansingh, who took two wickets for 45.

In response, CCC started cautiously but lost Kamil Pooran for 20 runs just before the rain interruption.

Kieran Powell was unbeaten on eight when no further play was possible, leaving CCC short of the 272-run target.

With one loss and a no-result, the Harpy Eagles will face Barbados Pride on November 3 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
