Mother and Son Bond Through Automotive Training

A heartwarming story emerges from Linden as a mother and son duo embark on a journey to obtain certification in Automotive Repair and Maintenance through the Board of Industrial Training (BIT).

Colyn Mansfield and her eighteen-year-old son, Jalen Smith, are among the 105 individuals currently undergoing training in various skill areas in Linden.

Colyn expressed her excitement in joining the program, describing it as a valuable experience.

She emphasized that working side by side with her eldest son has been a wonderful bonding opportunity and a chance to gain new skills together.

Minister Joseph Hamilton, during a prior visit to oversee ongoing training programs, highlighted that BIT courses not only prepare individuals for employment but also equip them with essential money-saving skills.

Colyn exemplifies this approach by viewing her training as an investment in her future.

Colyn, who relishes hands-on work, sees this training as a stepping stone to further opportunities.

She encourages others to explore the diverse courses offered by BIT, emphasizing that obtaining qualifications in high-demand skills can lead to long-term benefits.

The current courses encompass Welding and Fabrication, Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation, Joinery, Electrical Installation, and Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
