Vice President and PPP General Secretary, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, has assured that more cash grants will be distributed to Guyanese in the future, following the successful implementation of the current $100,000 initiative.
Dr. Jagdeo clarified that this program is not a one-time effort, as many have speculated.
He noted that while the government is committed to providing further cash assistance, the timing and frequency of future grants will depend on various factors under evaluation.
The Vice President also revealed plans to leverage the upcoming national electronic identification card (e-ID) system for future distribution.
This will streamline the process, making it more efficient and reducing the challenges faced with the current system.
By utilizing the banking infrastructure, the government aims to directly deposit funds into beneficiaries’ accounts, eliminating the need for individuals to show up in person.
The government’s initiative is part of broader efforts to provide direct financial support to citizens, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
