Monedderlust Football Club pulled off a surprise win over Slingerz FC, securing a place in the Guyana Football Federation’s Elite League.
The match took place at the Ministry of Education Ground as part of the Elite League promotional play-off.
In the final, Monedderlust took an early lead with a Brentnol Frank strike in the 4th minute.
Despite several close opportunities, the first half ended with Monedderlust leading one-nil.
In the second half, both teams intensified their attacks, but neither could penetrate the opposing defenses.
As the match neared its end, Slingerz FC had several close calls but couldn’t find the net, ultimately leading to a one-nil victory for Monedderlust.
Head Coach Jamal Johnson expressed his satisfaction with the team’s effort in securing the win.
Slingerz FC will have another opportunity to secure a place in the Elite League when they face Victoria Kings in their next match.
