The Ministry of Public Works (MOPW) will commence corrective works on Blinking Road at Block 22 following its collapse due to heavy rainfall on Sunday evening.

Engineers from the ministry assessed the site on Monday and will begin repairs as early as Tuesday.

Engineer Desmond Peters from MOPW explained that measurements have been taken, and a design will be developed to address the drainage issues and ensure the road’s structural integrity.

Originally constructed in 2019 to replace a narrow pathway, Blinking Road has faced erosion issues exacerbated by inadequate structural support and faulty drainage systems.

Residents have expressed concerns over the road’s deteriorating condition, emphasizing the urgency of repairs to prevent further damage and loss of property.

Paul St Juste, another resident, noted the road’s significance since its construction, highlighting the benefits it has brought to the community.

The Ministry of Public Works acknowledges the importance of swift intervention and aims to restore Blinking Road to a safe and functional state promptly.
