In response to significant interest, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance will be offering a second International Human Rights Law Course in 2025.

This decision follows the success and high demand for the initial course, which saw an overwhelming number of applications.

Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Gail Teixeira, announced that the course will return next year due to the substantial demand, with over a thousand applications received for the inaugural session.

The course, which began in late July, aims to expand access and provide valuable knowledge on international human rights law and legislation.

Currently, around 195 participants are enrolled in the course, which has received positive feedback from attendees.

The Ministry is committed to implementing recommendations from the participants to enhance the program further.

Teixeira emphasized the need to address the high level of interest and discussed plans to accommodate larger numbers in the 2025 budget.

The course is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of human rights issues and empower them to disseminate this knowledge within their communities.

Esteemed legal experts, including Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, have contributed to the program, offering lectures and insights into the human rights framework.

The Ministry’s initiative reflects its dedication to raising awareness and improving understanding of human rights, ensuring broader participation and impact in the upcoming course.
