Residents of Ituni and Amelia’s Ward in Linden, Region Ten, have benefitted from the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Eye-Care Program, receiving over 100 pairs of spectacles during a recent outreach.
The initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader effort to improve the quality of life for citizens by addressing vision-related challenges.
The program has distributed approximately 1,500 pairs of spectacles across the country, complementing the Ministry of Health’s Spectacle Voucher for Children and Pensioners.
Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, emphasized the importance of clear vision for daily activities such as reading, working, and community participation.
She also highlighted additional government programs, such as the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL), the Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WINN), and technical and vocational training courses through the Board of Industrial Training.
The Minister encouraged residents to take full advantage of these initiatives to enhance their personal and community development.
The Eye-Care Program underscores the government’s commitment to providing accessible and impactful services to citizens across the country, ensuring that every individual can lead a better and healthier life.
