In honor of the Month of the Elderly, the Ministry of Health will conduct a health fair on Thursday, October 26, dedicated to senior citizens.
The event will be held at the Ministry of Health Tarmac, Brickdam, Georgetown.
Dr. Melissa Dehaarte, Coordinator of the Elderly Health Unit, emphasized that the fair will offer a secure environment staffed by health professionals who will provide free quality services.
The focus will be on preventive measures, including eye and dental screenings, as well as advice on nutrition and meal preparation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly for those with chronic conditions.
This celebration is being observed under the theme: “Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.”
October 1st is recognized as the International Day of Older Persons, and Guyana dedicates the entire month to celebrating its senior citizens.
The health fair will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ministry of Health Brickdam Office.
