In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services, the Ministry of Health has commissioned a cutting-edge Digital X-ray Machine at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital in Region Five.
Valued at $49 million, this digital device replaces outdated analogue X-ray machines, marking a pivotal step in modernizing healthcare infrastructure.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, highlighted that the rehabilitation of the X-ray room, coupled with the acquisition of the digital machine, represents a total investment of $79 million.
The transition from analogue to digital technology promises transformative benefits for patient care.
Unlike analogue systems, which require film development and manual processing, digital X-ray images can be instantly stored and accessed digitally.
Dr. Anthony emphasized the newfound capability to enhance image clarity digitally, facilitating more accurate diagnoses and minimizing patient callbacks.
Regional Vice Chairman, Rion Peters, expressed appreciation for the upgrade, acknowledging its profound impact on healthcare delivery within the region.
He emphasized the significance of this advancement in improving healthcare outcomes for the local population.
Dr. Anthony further disclosed the government’s commitment to replacing all analogue X-ray machines nationwide by mid-year.
