Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, revealed that significant progress has been made towards the development of a new health app, with four companies shortlisted for the project.
This update was provided during the commissioning of a digital X-Ray machine at Mahaicony.
The new health app is a pivotal component of the ministry’s strategy to modernize the healthcare system across Guyana.
Its primary function will be to facilitate the storage and access of medical records, aiming to enhance efficiency in service provision and utilization across both public and private healthcare institutions.
Dr. Anthony emphasized the ministry’s goal to implement this app within the current year.
In his address, Dr. Anthony also announced forthcoming training opportunities within the health sector for the year.
These opportunities include programs for nurses and nursing assistants, with plans to commence a nursing assistant program later in the month.
The nursing assistant course, which spans one year and incorporates online learning, will offer practical components to ensure comprehensive training.
Successful graduates will be guaranteed employment within the healthcare sector.
Moreover, Dr. Anthony outlined additional training initiatives for 2024, including registered nursing programs, hospital administration courses, and post-graduate programs for doctors.
These endeavors aim to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
The Ministry of Health’s proactive approach towards technological advancement and workforce development underscores its commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and outcomes for the people of Guyana.
