The Ministry of Education has launched an initiative aimed at improving mathematics education across Guyana.

The Mathematics Intervention Awareness Campaign, which began in Region Two, has now expanded to Region Four on the East Bank of Demerara.

This campaign is designed to bridge the performance gap in mathematics among students and to provide educators with the resources they need to enhance learning outcomes.

As part of the initiative, the Ministry has introduced trained Math Monitors to 50 schools nationwide, offering direct support to both students and teachers.

In addition to the introduction of Math Monitors, participating schools are receiving essential educational tools, including calculators, geometry sets, textbooks, and access to a variety of online resources.

These resources include video lessons available on YouTube and national television, aimed at enhancing students’ understanding and skills in mathematics.

During the launch of the campaign, Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand, emphasized the importance of community involvement.

She called on parents to help ensure their children engage with the resources, attend school regularly, and study. “Together, we can improve outcomes,” she stated.

The campaign will continue to expand to other regions, with the goal of significantly boosting math performance across the nation.
