The Ministry of Agriculture revealed its Mashramani Costume Band for 2025, showcasing the country’s agricultural accomplishments.

The announcement was made during a preview of the costumes that will be featured in the upcoming Mashramani parade.

This year’s theme is centered around “Expressing Our Culture and Creativity as One Guyana,” with the Ministry set to highlight the significant strides made in food security, apiculture, and crop production.

The Ministry’s focus on food security is reflected in the theme, with Guyana now recognized as a leader in the region.

The country is not only maintaining traditional agricultural practices but is also venturing into new areas such as honey production, which has become a growing sector.

Guyanese fashion designer Olympia Small-Sonaram designed the costumes for the band, symbolizing Guyana’s position as the “bread basket of the Caribbean.”

The costumes emphasize the vital role of women in agriculture and the strength of the country’s agricultural sector.

Mashramani 2025 will feature a range of agricultural-themed floats and costumes, highlighting the contributions of key sectors such as rice, soybeans, honey production, and fisheries.

These sectors are integral to the country’s agricultural landscape.

The King and Queen floats will play a prominent role in the parade.

The King float will represent Guyana’s agriculture sector, while the Queen float will pay tribute to the honey industry, which has been promoted by President Irfaan Ali.

The event will also feature a performance by popular artiste Vanilla, who is expected to add energy and excitement to the festivities, further celebrating Guyana’s agricultural successes.

The Ministry of Agriculture aims to increase participation this year, with plans for approximately 200 revelers in the band.
