As part of the celebrations for Agriculture Month 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, organized an annual health fair at the Agriculture Ministry’s Regent Street Office.
The event saw hundreds of attendees benefit from a wide range of free health services.
Visitors had access to services including blood donations, vaccinations, diabetes and blood pressure testing, mental health and dental health education, among others.
Merel Abel, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her satisfaction with the initiative.
Noel Pellew, another beneficiary, appreciated the fair as a means for those who cannot afford certain services to receive them.
For many, it was their first opportunity to access mental health therapy.
Health professionals at the fair encouraged the public to prioritize their well-being and the environment.
Griselda Persaud, a Mental Health Professional, highlighted the availability of free counseling services.
Sherry Butters, from Vector Health Control, discussed the efforts made in community inspections to identify and address potential health hazards.
Agriculture Month, celebrated under the theme “Accelerating Vision 25 by 2025, Investing in Agri-Business and Food Security,” will feature various events including Market Days, World Food Day celebrations, plant distributions, and the Agri-Investment Forum.
