Ministries of Labour and Education Collaborate on Workforce Preparation Program for Students

The Ministry of Labour is working closely with the Ministry of Education to implement a new program aimed at preparing CSEC and CAPE students for the workforce.

The initiative will provide students with valuable insights into the job market and help bridge the gap between academic achievements and job readiness.

Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, highlighted that while many students excel academically, they often lack the necessary skills and knowledge to transition smoothly into employment.

He noted that this gap is not due to any fault of the students but rather a result of the educational system not adequately preparing them for the demands of the workforce.

The program will involve seminars and workshops held in schools across the country, where students will learn about workforce expectations and gain practical advice to enhance their job prospects.

The Ministry of Labour plans to introduce pilot programs in various regions, with the hope of creating long-term engagement that will continue to prepare students for successful careers.

Hamilton emphasized the need for ongoing efforts to ensure that students are better equipped for the challenges they will face in the professional world.
