Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai, has urged young people in the North Pakaraimas, Region Eight, to take proactive steps toward preparing for opportunities arising from new infrastructure projects in their communities.
During a three-day outreach to the villages of Pennak, Kanapang, Arsawa, and Kurukubaru, the minister emphasized the importance of early preparation for careers in health and education to meet the needs of the region’s evolving development.
Her visit highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to foster economic growth and enhance living standards in hinterland and remote communities.
Minister Sukhai stressed that achieving these goals requires active cooperation between residents and the administration, framing the process as a collaborative effort to deliver improved services and opportunities.
As part of the outreach, the minister distributed toys to hundreds of children in the villages of Kamana, Waipa, Sand Hills, and Kaibarupai, spreading holiday cheer and engaging directly with the communities.
The outreach aligns with the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises for development in hinterland regions, focusing on both short-term benefits and long-term improvements for residents.
