Minister Susan Rodrigues has reflected on the Housing and Water Ministry’s achievements since 2020 and addressed key concerns regarding the housing allocation process.

Her remarks came during a focus group discussion with Guyanese citizens.

Over the past four years, the government has significantly impacted the housing sector, transforming the lives of many through various initiatives.

Minister Rodrigues acknowledged the delays in house lot identification and infrastructure development, expressing commitment to improving the process.

The Minister also emphasized the potential role of the private sector in expediting housing construction.

She encouraged private sector players to collaborate directly with individuals to facilitate faster building processes.

Additionally, Rodrigues mentioned ongoing audits and communication with those who neglect their allocated house lots.

The Ministry aims to allocate 50,000 house lots by the end of 2025, develop numerous housing schemes, and begin construction on the Silica City project.
