During the National Toshaos Council Conference, Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn called for increased Amerindian involvement in Guyana’s disciplined services.

Minister Benn emphasized the need for the discipline services to better reflect the country’s diversity.

He urged Amerindian communities to provide between 300 and 500 recruits annually to enhance representation within these services.

He believes that Amerindian recruits bring unique insights and dedication, which would benefit their communities and improve the overall effectiveness of the services.

Benn noted that having individuals from their own communities involved in development and security efforts would lead to a better understanding and more respectful execution of tasks.

This, he argued, would foster stronger relationships and a more responsive framework for addressing community needs.

The Minister’s call aligns with broader efforts to enhance community engagement and representation within the disciplined services, with ongoing recruitment initiatives already in place.
