Minister Persaud Delivers Message of Hope on World Suicide Prevention Day

In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, delivered a heartfelt message encouraging those struggling with mental health challenges to seek support and find hope.

The 2024-2026 theme for World Suicide Prevention Day, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” reflects the global effort to shift the conversation towards offering help and hope to those in need.

Minister Persaud emphasized the value of life, acknowledging the immense hardships faced by many, including domestic abuse, depression, and human trafficking, which often lead individuals to contemplate suicide.

She urged those facing such struggles to remember that help is available and that life is a precious gift.

The Minister further highlighted the resources provided by the Ministries of Health and Human Services, stating her commitment to raising awareness and ensuring that individuals have access to the necessary support networks.

She encouraged the public to either seek help for themselves or assist others in accessing these services.

Additionally, the Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, echoed similar sentiments in a press release, reinforcing the government’s unified approach to mental health and suicide prevention.
