The Ministry of Education is urging students to exercise caution in their use of digital devices, following a rise in cases involving the sharing of explicit photos and videos among schoolchildren.

Education Minister Priya Manickchand has expressed concern over the trend, particularly among female students, and emphasized the emotional distress these actions have caused.

The Ministry has been addressing several such incidents, which have highlighted the need for greater awareness and responsible use of technology.

Students are being advised to refrain from sending inappropriate content through their devices.

The Minister has also called on those who may already have engaged in such activities to report instances of blackmail or threats linked to these actions.

In addition, citizens are being reminded of existing cybercrime laws and the penalties associated with violating them.

The Ministry is also appealing to parents to monitor their children’s activities during the upcoming holiday season, as schools close for the Christmas break.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote digital responsibility and protect the well-being of students across the country.
