Minister Joseph Hamilton Emphasizes Occupational Health and Safety Training

Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton has highlighted the continued emphasis on training individuals to become Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officers and first responders.

Speaking on the televised program “Budget in Focus,” Minister Hamilton emphasized the critical role of occupational health and safety in national development, especially with the growth of industries such as construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas.

Minister Hamilton stressed the need for a shift in the education system to ensure that professions in the OHS field are developed to meet the increasing demand for such personnel.

The ministry plans to provide continuous training for OHS officers and also work on raising awareness among the general population.

There will be a particular focus on accidents within homes, with plans to initiate a program extending health and safety practices into households.
