Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar, visited Pouderoyen on West Bank Demerara on Monday, engaging residents and addressing community concerns regarding infrastructure and development.

During the walkabout, Minister Indar assessed the progress of several ongoing projects initiated after his previous visit.

These included road repairs and drainage works in Middle Street, which had been added to the ministry’s program following earlier complaints from residents.

However, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of implementation and instructed the responsible engineers and contractors to expedite their efforts to meet community needs.

Outstanding concerns raised during the engagement included drainage issues in certain areas and the need for concrete footpaths to ensure safe passage for children during flooding.

The Minister assured residents that he would collaborate with the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) and other relevant agencies to address these matters.

Minister Indar emphasized the government’s commitment to improving living conditions nationwide and encouraged residents to report issues promptly to prevent them from escalating.

He reiterated the administration’s focus on community development and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

The engagement in Pouderoyen reflects the government’s continued efforts to foster accountability and ensure infrastructure projects benefit local communities effectively.
