Minister Edghill Urges Cooperation of Utility Companies for Infrastructure Projects

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill emphasized the importance of cooperation from utility companies for the successful implementation of infrastructure projects in the capital.

During site visits yesterday, Minister Edghill highlighted the necessity of collaboration with utility companies to ensure the completion of infrastructure works in the city.

He specifically mentioned ongoing projects at Kingston Wharf and several roads, including Conversation Tree and Aubrey Barker.

Expressing concern over the lack of cooperation from utility companies, Minister Edghill stated that their reluctance is causing significant delays in major projects.

He underscored the importance of adhering to agreements in good faith to facilitate project progress.

In a decisive move, Minister Edghill revealed his intention to take action against non-compliant utility companies.

He mentioned contacting Digicel and issuing a public notice threatening to remove poles if they fail to relocate wires promptly, with the responsibility falling on Digicel.

Furthermore, Minister Edghill addressed the issue of contractors failing to fulfill their contractual duties and obligations.

He asserted that the ministry will not tolerate delays in projects that impact citizens’ lives, emphasizing the government’s commitment to delivering goods and services promptly.

In conclusion, Minister Edghill reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring project efficiency and urged utility companies and contractors to fulfill their responsibilities to prevent further delays.
