Public Works Minister Juan Edghill provided updates on ongoing infrastructural projects across Guyana, expressing confidence in their timely completion.

In Canal #1 and #2, as well as Belle Vue, works on four access bridges were initially stalled due to concerns raised by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.

Minister Edghill highlighted the importance of these projects and emphasized the need to address water flow and canal maintenance.

New designs have been developed to ensure project continuity, with completion expected in six weeks.

C & L Contracting is handling the construction of two bridges at Canal #1, valued at $171 million, while Rim Construction Inc. is responsible for the Canal #2 bridge, costing $89.7 million.

The Belle Vue bridge, valued at $78.4 million, is being constructed by Hanbel Garnett.

Additionally, progress is being made on the Kingston Wharf in a phased approach to accommodate ongoing operations.

Minister Edghill acknowledged the challenge of balancing construction work with ferry operations to Region 1.

Despite this, a modality has been devised to allow for continued construction while ensuring ferry operations remain operational, avoiding additional costs.
