Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, has issued a stern warning to residents of Linden, urging them to avoid squatting as the government continues its efforts to regularize house lots in the region.
The announcement was made during a recent address to residents in Victory Valley.
Minister Croal emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens and ensuring land ownership for those living on unallocated plots.
He explained that under the ‘Operation Clean Up’ campaign, efforts will be made to formalize land ownership in various areas across the region.
This initiative is aimed at ensuring that every resident has rightful ownership of the land they occupy.
The Minister pointed out that Linden, specifically Fitz Hope, had seen challenges related to squatting.
Despite these difficulties, the government has already regularized 442 lots in the area, providing legal ownership to those who previously occupied the land without proper authorization.
In 2024, the Ministry successfully regularized over 750 lots and allocated more than 1,600 house lots across the region.
Minister Croal noted that ten priority areas have been identified for regularization, including Silver Hill on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, Siberian and Coomacka in the Mines, West Watooka, and Blocks E and F in Canvas City.
The Minister also highlighted that Region Ten is the only region in the country with 100% treated water, showcasing the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions for its citizens.
