Milerock won grand finale of the Upper Demerara Football Association’s year-end football tournament

On January 1, the Retrieve Hard Court witnessed the thrilling grand finale of the Upper Demerara Football Association’s (UDFA) year-end football tournament, showcasing an intense battle for supremacy in futsal.

Milerock emerged victorious, displaying brilliance on the court and securing not only the championship trophy but also a substantial prize of 1 million dollars, along with the coveted bragging rights.

The event drew in a large crowd of spectators eager to witness the culmination of the year-end futsal tournament.

In the third-place playoffs, Winners Connection outperformed Botofago with a 9-7 goal difference, securing the third position.

Nicholas Gentle showcased exceptional skills by scoring six goals for Winners Connection, while Omar Brewley and Antawaine Gill contributed two goals each for the fourth-place team.

The highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated matchup between Milerock and Capital FC. Milerock dominated the hard court, securing a convincing victory with a scoreline of seven goals against Capital FC’s three.

Colwyn Drakes, displaying an outstanding performance, netted three goals and was honored with the Most Valuable Player award.

Team captain Marcus Tudor contributed with two goals, and Allan Halley and Rawle Gittens each scored one goal.

Neil Kennedy of Milerock earned recognition as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The prize distribution saw the first, second, third, and fourth-place winners receiving 1 million dollars, five hundred dollars, two hundred thousand dollars, and one hundred thousand dollars, respectively.

The UDFA Futsal Grand Finale showcased not only skillful play but also the competitive spirit of the participating teams, creating a memorable start to the year for football enthusiasts.
