Mental Health Awareness Fair Focuses on Support and Education

The Mental Health Unit marked the conclusion of Mental Health Month with a health fair held along Main Street in Georgetown.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the available services for individuals struggling with mental health issues.

Dr. Mark Constantine, Head of Psychological Services at the Mental Health Unit, emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the accessibility of professional mental health services provided by the Ministry of Health.

He also emphasized that these services are offered free of charge.

Representatives from various organizations participating in the fair also shared their perspectives on the significance of mental health awareness.

Fiona Stoll, Project Assistant at IOM, highlighted the role of mental health in maintaining overall well-being for individuals, including migrants and the broader community.

Leona DaCosta Cumberbatch, a representative from the Elderly Health Unit, stressed the importance of recognizing and addressing mental health issues such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.

She underscored the value of guidance and support for individuals and their caregivers.

The Mental Health Unit, operating under the Ministry of Health, is committed to ongoing efforts to raise awareness and ensure that individuals in need receive the necessary assistance.
