Men on Mission Introduces After-School Program to Address Literacy Challenges

Men on a Mission’s new after-school program is set to tackle literacy problems

In response to the pressing issue of learning difficulties, particularly in relation to literacy, the Men on Mission (M.O.M.) initiative, part of the 1000 Men project, is set to launch an after-school program.

This program, conceptualized by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, aims to provide additional support to students struggling with reading and writing.

The Headmistress of New Campbellville Secondary School, Shaundell Ferreira, highlighted a specific concern: Grade 7 students resorting to the use of symbols rather than words to convey meaning.

This indicates a significant gap in their reading and writing proficiency.

President Ali has pledged the collaboration of Men on Mission with the school to implement the program promptly, targeting these critical issues.

The initiative is expected to be in operation within a matter of weeks.

The Ministry of Education has been actively working to enhance literacy, including the introduction of the locally produced Atlantic Reader series at the primary school level.

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand has articulated the goal of ensuring every child can read and write by Grade 3.
