Men Across Guyana Join Fathers’ Day Fitness Walk to Promote Health and Anti-Violence Message

By Radha Motielall

Fathers across Guyana participated in a significant fitness walk on Sunday morning to celebrate Fathers’ Day, promoting a message of personal health and solidarity against violence.

Led by President Irfaan Ali, the initiative spanned all ten administrative regions, emphasizing the importance of men prioritizing their health.

In Region Four, Georgetown, the walk commenced from the Army Base Camp at Ayanganna and was attended by Prime Minister Mark Phillips, who delivered a poignant message urging men to take responsibility for their well-being.

The five-kilometer walk, held under the theme “Stronger Together Against Violence,” garnered praise from Komal Singh, Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, who noted the event’s alignment with the goals of the Men on Mission (MOM) initiative.

MOM, initiated by the President to foster better role models and leaders within homes and communities, has made combating violence a central focus.

The walk symbolized unity and support for this cause, drawing a strong turnout across the country.
