M&CC Swiftly Cleans Up City After Mashramani Parade

By Delicia Janneire

Following yesterday’s vibrant Mashramani Road Parade, the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) wasted no time in ensuring the city returned to its usual state.

Led by the Solid Waste Department, Engineering Department, and the Public Works Ministry, efforts were made to swiftly clean up the aftermath of the festivities.

Early this morning, teams from these departments collaborated to clear the streets and public areas, aiming to restore normalcy to the city.

Walter Narine, Director of the Solid Waste Department at M&CC, provided insights into the cleanup progress.

Narine revealed that the volume of garbage left on the streets this year was notably less compared to previous years, attributing this improvement to better citizen behavior in managing litter.

He commended the public for their efforts and highlighted the positive impact of providing bins during the celebrations.

Mayor of Georgetown, Alfred Mentore, was also present at the cleanup site, underscoring the council’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the city.
