Sobhana Mostary contributed with 35 runs, while Shorna Akter added 29, but Bangladesh struggled to reach a competitive total.
West Indies’ Deandra Dottin bowled exceptionally well, taking 3 wickets, while Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne both claimed 2 wickets each, helping to dismantle the Bangladesh batting order.
In reply, Matthews took charge, scoring an unbeaten 104 runs, which included 16 boundaries, while Qiana Joseph supported with 70 runs, including 6 fours and 4 sixes.
The pair guided West Indies to a comfortable 202 for 1, successfully chasing down the target with ease.
Speaking after the match, Matthews expressed her satisfaction with both her individual performance and the team’s success.
She emphasized the importance of the series as preparation for the team’s World Cup qualifiers.
Qiana Joseph, another key contributor, reflected on her performance, crediting her hard work and composure under pressure for the successful innings.
With the victory, West Indies now hold a commanding position in the series and will look to extend their dominance in the second match on Tuesday as they aim for a series win.
