West Indies Academy clinched a series victory against Ireland’s Emerging team with a convincing six-wicket win at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

The standout performance came from Guyanese opener Matthew Nandu, who displayed brilliance amid falling wickets.

Nandu crafted an impressive half-century, scoring 63 runs from 107 balls.

Despite the early departure of fellow opener Kadeem Alleyne (7), Teddy Bishop (7), Jordan Johnson (duck), and Kevin Wickham (18), Nandu found a reliable partner in skipper Nyeem Young.

Nyeem Young took charge, contributing an aggressive 75 runs off 67 balls, featuring eight fours and three sixes.

Their partnership propelled the Windies Academy to overhaul Ireland’s Emerging team total, finishing at 179 for 4 in 40.3 overs.

In response to Ireland’s total of 175 in 43.4 overs, the Windies Academy’s bowling trio of Joshua Bishop (3-32), Ashmead Nedd (3-28), and Kevin Wickham (3-42) played a crucial role.

Ireland’s skipper, Stephen Doheny, was the only player to shine with a top score of 64 from 96 balls, including six fours.

Tom Mayes (27) and Morgan Topping (20) made notable contributions.

Matthew Humphreys led Ireland’s bowling attack, with Scott Macbeth and Liam McCarthy claiming the other wickets.

The series victory is particularly satisfying for the West Indies Academy, led by Guyanese head coach Rayon Griffith, as they rebounded after losing the first match by 26 runs.

They secured a convincing 7-wicket win in the second match.

The focus now shifts to a pair of four-day matches scheduled from November 25-28 and December 2-5 at Coolidge.
