Marvinda Dindyal Shines with Unbeaten 136 in Demerara Cricket Board’s Under-19 Tournament

In a remarkable display of talent, West Indies under-19 cricketer Marvinda Dindyal showcased his batting prowess by smashing an unbeaten 136 runs in the Demerara Cricket Board’s Under-19 Inter-association Super 50 Tournament.

The tournament, which commenced over the weekend across various grounds, witnessed thrilling encounters as teams vied for supremacy in the DCB inter-county competition.

On Saturday, the Georgetown Cricket Association dominated the West Demerara Cricket Association, securing a commanding victory by 133 runs at the Met-en-Meerzorg cricket ground.

Meanwhile, the Upper Demerara Cricket Association faced a daunting challenge in their first match, suffering a staggering defeat by 243 runs at the Queen’s College Cricket Ground.

Marvinda Dindyal’s exceptional innings of 136 was a standout performance, bolstered by contributions from Romeo Deoarain (83), Zachary Jodha (59), and Jonathan Van Lange (73 not out).

Despite efforts from Upper Demerara’s Joshua Persaud (3 for 70) and others, they couldn’t contain Dindyal’s onslaught.

In another fixture, the East Coast Cricket Association emerged victorious over the East Bank Cricket Association, with Arun Gainda excelling with the ball, claiming an impressive five wickets for just 13 runs.

The DCB Under-19 tournament holds significant importance as it serves as a platform to select the Demerara team for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board’s U19 inter-county tournament.

As the competition progresses, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate more thrilling matches and standout performances from talented young cricketers like Marvinda Dindyal, who continue to shine on the cricketing stage.
