Marian Academy Dominates in MVP Sports Under-11 Football

Defending champions Marian Academy proved they are determined to keep their MVP Sports Under-11 title with two commanding victories over the weekend.

The first match saw Marian Academy’s Chrissyanne Persaud opening the scoring in the 6th minute with an impressive strike.

Teammate Haley Haberkorn doubled the lead shortly after, before Persaud took charge, netting three more goals in the 12th, 16th, and 23rd minutes, finishing with a total of four goals.

Sariah Samaroo added another in the 25th minute, and Ella Fernandes sealed the victory with a goal in the 40th minute, leading Marian Academy to a dominant 7-0 win over Georgetown International Academy.

In other games, West Ruimveldt had a strong performance, with Ariel Farley scoring four goals and Jada McRae adding another, helping West Ruimveldt defeat Genesis Academy 5-0.

Potaro Primary triumphed 2-1 against Smith Memorial Primary thanks to a brace from Reniese Joseph, while Waramuri Primary edged out St. John the Baptist Primary 1-0, with Keshanna Thomas scoring the only goal.

In round two, West Ruimveldt received a walkover victory after Batavia failed to show up, while Genesis Academy picked up their first win of the day, a 3-0 victory over F.E. Pollard Primary.

Linden’s One Mile Primary continued to struggle, losing 1-0 to Smith Memorial Primary, with Akeila Pile scoring the only goal.

Marian Academy’s champions continued their dominance, securing a 4-0 win over Stella Marris Primary.

Ella Haley opened the scoring, and Haley Haberkorn added two more in the 18th and 23rd minutes, while Averi Simon capped off the victory with a goal in the dying moments.

The competition, sponsored by MVP Sports and Guyana Beverage Inc., continues next Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground on CARIFESTA Avenue.
