Mahdia, representing The Movement Family, secured the championship title in the inaugural Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) Harmony League T10 Tapeball Tournament.
The team defeated Lil Rams in a decisive final on Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
Batting first, Lil Rams managed a total of 94 for 8, with notable contributions from Kemol Savory (33) and Riyad Latif (23).
Mahdia’s bowlers, led by Floyd Joseph, who took three wickets for 24 runs in two overs, and Neiland Cadogan, with figures of 2 for 23, restricted the opposition’s scoring opportunities.
Chasing a target of 95, Mahdia delivered an emphatic performance. Openers Ricardo Adams and Ershaad Ali dominated the bowling attack, achieving the target without loss in just 6.5 overs.
Adams top-scored with 44, hitting four boundaries and three sixes, while Ali’s explosive innings featured five sixes and one four, earning him the Player of the Match award.
The tournament, which began on November 17, featured 48 teams from Guyana’s three counties, promoting unity and diversity.
ERC Commissioner Charles Ogle expressed pride in the competition’s success, emphasizing its role in fostering harmony.
Head of the Public Relations Sub-Committee, Commissioner Neaz Subhan, also conveyed gratitude to the participating teams.
Mahdia claimed the grand prize of $500,000, while Lil Rams received $250,000.
The losing semi-finalists, The Guards and CJIA Warriors, were awarded $100,000 each.
