Mackenzie High to Host Inter-Secondary 4×4 Basketball Tournament

February 13, 2025

Mackenzie High School, in collaboration with the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA), will host a one-day inter-secondary 4×4 basketball tournament on Thursday, February 20, at the Retrieve Hard Court.

The event is part of the Grade 12 and 13 Unit Two Physical Education and Sport Internal Assessment, aimed at developing students’ event management and planning skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and communication among schools.

Six schools will participate in the knockout-style competition, with eight teams competing for the top spot.

As part of the assessment, students are required to organize and execute a sporting event based on research into popular sports within their community.

The findings identified basketball as a widely played sport in need of more competitive opportunities, leading to the selection of the tournament format.

The competition has been officially sanctioned by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), making it a recognized event at the global level.

Once the tournament concludes, player registrations will be uploaded to the FIBA website.

The organizers are encouraging members of the public to attend and support the event as young athletes showcase their skills.
